Discover the Future of Fashion Law at the 2025 Helsinki IP Summit!
This year, the IP Summit will feature a dedicated Fashion Law Seminar – an unprecedented parallel session – organized in collaboration with the Finnish Fashion Law Association. The seminar will explore key IPR issues in the fashion sector, including upcycling, cultural heritage, as well as the emerging challenges of digital fashion.
The parallel session will be chaired by Heidi Härkönen, Adjunct Professor of Fashion Law (University of Turku). The keynote speaker of the session will be Professor Irene Calboli (Texas A&M University), who has recently co-edited The Handbook of Fashion Law for Oxford University Press. Professor Calboli will deliver us a keynote Re-stitching the Threads: Fashion at the Crossroads of Tradition, Innovation, and Sustainability.
Following this, Pauliina Rajala, IPR University Center’s IPR Advisor, and Sir Richard Arnold, Judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales, will discuss the intersection of IPR and cultural heritage. Next, Emilia Hodge, VP of Brand Advisory & Legal at Berggren, will provide insights into fashion IP claims and defamation liability. Maria Rehbinder, Senior Legal Counsel at Aalto University, and Taina Pihlajarinne, Professor at the University of Helsinki, will explore upcycling.
To conclude the seminar, Stina Teilmann-Lock, Associate Professor and Director of Unit at Copenhagen Business School, and Markku Tuominen, Partner at Roschier, will guide us through recent fashion case law.
With a diverse group of leading experts and thought-provoking topics, the seminar will offer fresh perspectives and a comprehensive overview of the key fashion law issues. Participants will gain valuable insights into the most pressing IPR challenges currently shaping the fashion industry!
